Planning a Trip to Vancouver?

Vancouver is located in British Columbia, Canada, and is part of an area popularly known as the Lower Mainland, or Greater Vancouver.

The other cities in the area include Richmond, New Westminster, Burnaby, West Vancouver, North Vancouver, Delta, Ladner, Tsawwassen, Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam, Maple Ridge, and Surrey. The resort town of Whistler is a two-hour drive away.

The Lower Mainland's best asset is its natural beauty. Parks, lakes, inlets, rivers, and mountains intermingle with the urban areas, making traffic across the many bridges easier to tolerate.

The weather is mild. In the winter, a temperature of 4°C is considered cold. In the summer, 17°C to 25°C is normal, but it reaches 30°C or higher about five times per year.

And, yes, it rains a lot here. But the rain is seldom heavy, allowing locals and tourists to enjoy the outdoors year-round. You must, however, bring your rain gear, such as raincoats, umbrellas, and hiking boots. If you are prepared, the rain won’t bother you.

The heavenly spray stops for about two months in the summer, though. Parks, camp grounds, beaches, and hiking trails offer endless fun to outdoor enthusiasts.

In the winter, the local mountains get precipitation in the form of snow, making skiing a favourite outdoor activity.

In the spring, you are assured to get rain, but the beautifully kept gardens and Japanese Cherry trees lining the neighbourhoods’ streets will make you reach for your umbrella to get out and enjoy the pleasant scenery.

Because of the mild whether, not all vegetation goes dormant during the cold months, but a few trees and bushes still surrender their foliage early in the fall, turning the multi-coloured leafage into the focal point throughout the October breezy weeks.

On rainy days, if you don’t want to adventure outside, you can visit the many shopping malls, enjoy indoor sports events, or experience the bountiful nightlife which includes theatre, concerts, international dinning, night clubs, and pubs.

Have a good trip!
